Sat Lakes and Sat Mountains

The Sat Mountains, rising on the border of Şırnak's Beytüşşebap district with Hakkari, are a glacial high-mountain massif; the many glacial lakes on their slopes and high plateaus are known as the "Sat Lakes".

With clear, cold waters, rocky peaks and untouched nature, they form one of the region's most impressive high-mountain landscapes and a legendary destination for nature photographers and mountaineers.

Access and Visiting Conditions

Although most of the lakes lie administratively on the Hakkari side, access to the area is planned via the Beytüşşebap-Faraşin branch. Due to the border belt and high altitude, access depends on security and seasonal conditions and requires permits, a guide and the summer window.
